From the Caribbean to Winter Wonderland

And off we went! Our plane from Cartagena to Amsterdam lifted in the evening, and just like that, a few hours later, we landed in a foggy and cold Amsterdam. From the warmth of the Caribbean to a winter wonderland, the transition was stark. For Lars, it was back to the usual—embracing winter, enjoying the sunny yet chilly days, and waiting for spring to arrive. For Sebas, however, this is a special moment. His very first winter, in his new chosen home: the Netherlands.

Back to business and, more importantly, back to a healthy routine, as traveling always sets us back a little.

Finding Home in the Netherlands

We need a home where we can live and thrive together with Captain Meow Meow. We no longer want to live in the center of Amsterdam. Given that the Dutch housing market is a huge mess, we knew it would be a game of patience and resilience. But for now, everything is working out! We are in Haarlem, staying in an entire house with a garden for two months, and we’re beginning to feel at home.

Lars is back doing what he loves, leading a team in an old castle not far from Haarlem. Sebas is embracing his true life path—he has already applied to join a makeup school and is working once a week with a fashion designer to explore his artistic side. Both of these ventures look promising, and now there is just one last major step: securing Sebas’ residence permit so he can move and work freely within the European Union.

We hope that within a few weeks, this process will be complete. Once done, a huge weight will be lifted off our shoulders. Immigration comes with many hurdles, but this permit will ease the waiting period and pressure, allowing us to breathe deeply and focus on our true passions and life paths.

Embracing Life in Our New Winter Wonderland

Starting fresh in a new country with a new environment is a rewarding yet challenging adventure. It’s a journey filled with ups and downs, but we are determined and confident that the best outcome awaits us.
